WASHINGTON, September 15, 2020 — The Joseph Rainey Center for Public Policy is expanding its digital department and welcomes Shannon Callahan, Digital Information Technology Manager, to the Rainey Center team. This investment in technology expertise comes as the organization shifts towards expanded digital engagement with partners and policymakers in order to meet the challenges of 2020 and beyond.
A Chicago native, Shannon Callahan serves as the Rainey Center’s new Digital Information Technology Manager. Her background spans the STEM discipline from the George Washington University’s Fluid Dynamics Lab to digital infrastructure management and data visualization for leading government contracting firms.
“Investing in technological knowhow is crucial for any organization continuing to thrive amid the current distancing climate,” noted Rainey CEO, Sarah E. Hunt. “This organizational expansion prioritizes innovation and is already driving campaigns designed to enhance our distanced engagement capabilities and further our mission of augmenting the voices of women, minorities and mavericks in the public policy arena.”
This announcement follows the launch of the Leadership Alliance for a More Perfect Union (LAMP) website and LAMP VIP Digital Hub, a digital platform providing lawmakers and policy insiders with an expanding library of information. The Hub also includes training and networking tools designed to strengthen leadership skills and promote informed policy decisions on the most important news making topics of the day.
“As the Election 2020 cycle heats up, innovative platforms for education and engagement on issues that cross state and party lines are more important than ever,” North Carolina Representative Jason Saine remarked. “The LAMP initiative and its programming offer unique opportunities for legislators in all 50 states to learn and engage with their peers and issue experts. It has proved to be an invaluable resource for state leaders.”
