There are laws and long established practices governing the ways political candidates try to “get out the vote.” Now peer-to-peer texting pushes the boundaries of the ways campaigns are interacting with potential voters. Citizens are increasingly targeted by political campaigns, whether it’s texting, online advertisements, television advertisements, direct mail, or staffers knocking on your door. While peer-to-peer texting from campaigns may be surprising, or even unwanted, it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
