Bishop Garrison: The Huawei threat is real. Congress should act accordingly.

Rainey Center co-founder and President Bishop Garrison published an op-ed at the Federal Times regarding the threat posed by Chinese telecommunications company Huawei.

As Garrison notes, telecommunications and security experts -- as well as politicians on both sides of the aisle -- have noted the security threat posed by Huawei, and their efforts to infiltrate themselves into the businesses of other telecommunications companies around the world, including American companies like Sprint and T-Mobile.

As plans move forward to develop a national 5G network, Garrison writes, Congress should use its oversight powers to protect America from the risks posed by Huawei's interference.

"Congress has the opportunity and ability through its oversight powers to ensure that Huawei and other Chinese equipment doesn’t compromise national security in a groundbreaking 5G network."
