Rainey Center co-founder and President Bishop Garrison appeared on MSNBC along with Brian Darling, the president of Liberty Government Affairs, to discuss the border security aspects of the government shutdown debate, as well as the financial impact the shutdown has on federal employees.
"What we ultimately have here is the President holding the country hostage because of these policies around a draconian and outdated idea of what a border wall is and what immigration should be," said Garrison.
Garrison was furloughed for about a week during a previous shutdown in 2013, while he was employed at the Department of Defense. "My heart goes out to these parents, these families that are dealing with this," Garrison, noting the additional stress caused by the uncertainty about when a shutdown might end.
