COMMENTARY: Energy Policy Is the 'Canary in the Coal Mine' of Executive Power Expansion

Rainey Center co-founder Sarah Hunt has an op-ed at Townhall today discussion how both President Barack Obama and President Donald Trump have employed similar strategies regarding energy policy.

As Sarah notes, these two presidents may seem like ideological opposites, but both have "sought to implement their energy priorities through expanding executive authority, contorting ill-suited statutes and regulatory processes to achieve their policy aims." The trouble with this approach is that it has "questionable long-term efficacy," writes Sarah, and a better solution would be for Congress to engage in bipartisan debate on these issues.
